Turkish ministry discloses volume of cargo handled through Mersin port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13

The Turkish port of Mersin handled 8.9 million tons of cargo from January through March 2021, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

"The vessels flying under the flag of Turkey transported 534,087 tons of cargo through the port of Mersin while 8.4 million tons under the flags of other countries," the ministry said. "The port of Mersin transited 170,707 tons of cargo from January through March 2021."

The Turkish ports handled 94.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2021.

Some 7.4 million tons of cargo were transported by vessels flying the Turkish flag while under the flags of other countries – 87.2 million tons.

Moreover, the Turkish ports transited 18.4 million tons of cargo during the reporting period.

The Turkish ports as a whole handled 32.1 million tons of cargo in March 2021.

Some 2.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying under the Turkish flag while under the flags of other countries – 29.3 million tons in March.

The Turkish ports transited 5.9 million tons of cargo in March.
