Türkiye records growth in passenger traffic at Ankara Esenboga Int'l Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. The total passenger traffic at the Ankara Esenboga International Airport of Türkiye grew in December 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, this figure amounted to over 8.6 million passengers, up by 23 percent on annual basis.

In December this year, the airport's domestic air passenger traffic equaled 6.7 million people (a growth of 18 percent), whereas international passenger traffic reached 1.9 million people (a growth of 46 times).

During the reporting month, the airport's domestic air cargo traffic amounted to 57,989 tons (a year-on-year increase of 10 percent), while international cargo traffic was 36,232 tons (a rise of 37 percent).

Besides, 71,077 flights were implemented in December 2022, which was six percent more than in December 2021. Meanwhile, the number of domestic flights amounted to 53,894 (a growth of two percent), whereas international flights – 17,183 (a rise of 21 percent).

In 2022, total passenger traffic at Turkish airports was 181.9 million people, whilst cargo turnover stood at 4.4 million tons.
