There will be prompt attention to foreigners who get into a crisis situation during the first European Games in Baku, head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MOE) of Azerbaijan Ogtay Bayramov told Trend May 1.

However, he said that Azerbaijan will not create a special single system for the requests of foreigners who arrived in the country in connection with the first European Games and who get into a crisis situation.

Bayramov went on to add that there is a representative of MOE in the Operating Committee of the first European Games Baku 2015 (BEGOC), and the committee will work in coordination with the ministry. In case of emergency cases during the first European Games, BEGOC will react quickly.

Bayramov said that in case of natural or man-made disasters, Azerbaijani citizens call the number 112, and information about these incidents is placed on the MOE website. Information on incidents related to the first European Games will be posted on the BEGOC website.

He went on to add that foreigners, who get into a crisis situation in the country, will be able to call the number 112 and obtain prompt assistance. Managers who know foreign languages have been already hired.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent, which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
