Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev appointed Emin Huseynov the country’s deputy finance minister.

The finance minister has two deputies: Ilgar Fatizade (first deputy) and Azer Bayramov.

Emin Huseynov was born in 1974 in Azerbaijan’s Sumgait city. He graduated from Azerbaijan State University of Economics in 1996. Huseynov received master’s degree in economics at the University of Florida in 1996-1998.

He received master’s degree in public administration at Harvard University in 2008-2009. He holds a PhD degree in economics.

Huseynov started to serve as an economist in the World Bank’s Baku Office in 1998 and continued to work as an economist in the IMF Permanent Mission in Baku in 2001-2003.

He returned to the WB Baku Office in 2003-2005. In 2005, he was appointed the director of the Statistics and Research Department of Azerbaijan’s Central Bank (CBA).

He was appointed director general and director of the CBA Research and Development Center in February 2010.

Prior to the current appointment, Huseynov served as vice rector for strategy and development at ADA University.
