Azerbaijan Swimming Federation launched the next phase of trainings, head of the federation's press service, Magsad Rahimov told Trend Aug. 16.

Rahimov said the Azerbaijani swimmers and national water polo team will take part in various competitions and international tournaments prior to the 1st European Games to be held in Baku in 2015.

He added that Azerbaijani swimmers Boris Kirillov and Yevgeny Lazuka are participating in the European championship in Berlin.

From this day on, the swimmer Elvira Hasanova is representing Azerbaijan at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in China, which will continue until August 28.

Azerbaijan's national water polo team, consisting of athletes born 1998-1999, will on August 17 launch practice sessions in the city of Brest, and then take part in an international tournament.

The teams of Poland, Bulgaria, Russia and Belarus will also take part in the tournament along with the team of Azerbaijan.

The practice sessions will be attended by 16 athletes. The international tournament will continue for four days.
