Azerbaijan is firmly committed to fighting human trafficking, police major-general Sharif Asadullayev, head of the Main Department on Combating Human Trafficking at the Interior Ministry said.
He made the remarks during the event dedicated to the issues of implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings.
The event was organized by the European Union and Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry.
Asadullayev said Azerbaijan has been taking comprehensive measures in this sphere for over 10 years, according to Asadullayev.
He noted that the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings praised Azerbaijan's activities in this sphere, including the creation of a working group and specialized police department, adoption of the law, national action plan and other measures.
