According to the data on 10 October, harvesting of tobacco leaves in Azerbaijan’s regions was 6061 tons since the start of the year. It is for 680 tons more as compared to the same period of 2004, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.
The Ministry also noted, the tobacco leaves are mainly grown within the economic area of Sheki-Zakataly, comprising Zakatala, Sheki, Gakh, Gabala and Balaken.
The total area under the tobacco in 2005 is 2780 hectares, the harvesting of which is still going on for the moment.
Last year the figure was 6500 tons.
