Hacker attack on government and public websites in Azerbaijan can be equated to an undeclared cyberwar, Chairman of Azerbaijan Internet Forum (AIF) Osman Gunduz told Trend on Tuesday.

Gunduz noted that it can not be described as a common hacker attack due to the scale of this event.

Websites of Azerbaijan public and social institutions, including the site of Trend news agency were attacked by hackers.

"The scale of the usual hacker attack is not so big. Therefore, the incident should be treated as a cyberwar and should be evaluated," Gunduz said.

Serious work in the field of effective information security systems were implemented in Azerbaijan. The country hasn't faced such incident for the last 5 years, Gunduz said.
Gunduz noted that the investigation of such incidents is a long process requiring a large amount of routine work.
