ICANN transferred the right to administer the domain to Kazakhstan's Association of IT-companies. The names registration rules have not been published yet although ICANN approved the creation of the domain in September 2011.
According to the Coordination Centre, there are 10 million Kazakh language speakers in the world. Roughly 4.3 million use the Internet in Kazakhstan.
ICANN coordinates at an overall level, the global Internet's systems of unique identifiers and in particular ensures the stable and secure operation of the Internet's unique identifier systems. The organisation has created roughly 20 domain zones worldwide.
