Nomination of candidates for participation in the early presidential election in Kazakhstan started Feb.26, the country's Central Election Commission (CEC) said.

The early presidential election in Kazakhstan is scheduled for April 26.

"The nomination of the presidential candidates will end on March 15, 2015," said CEC.

The country's public associations, registered in the prescribed manner, as well as citizens (by self-nomination) have the right to nominate candidates for president, according to CEC.

In order to participate in the presidential election, a candidate should collect signatures of at least one percent of the total number of voters equally representing at least two thirds of the provinces, as well as the cities of Almaty and Astana, according to Kazakh CEC.

The registration of the presidential candidates will start after the candidates submit all required documents to the CEC and will end on March 25. 2015.

The presidential candidate should transfer around 1.60 million Kazakh tenge (184.75 tenge = $1) worth fee to the account of CEC before the registration and after verifying the compliance with the requirements envisaged in the constitution and constitutional law, said the CEC.

Moreover, the CEC said that before the registration, the candidate and his/her spouse should submit a declaration about the income and property as of Feb.1, 2015 to the tax authorities in the place of residence.

The pre-election campaign of the presidential candidates will last from March 26 till 24:00 (local time), April 24.

It is prohibited to hold a pre-election campaign a day before the election and on the election day.

Presidential election in Kazakhstan is financed from the funds of the republican budget.

Budgetary funds (as a guarantee of the state) partially cover the costs of the campaign held by candidates in the size established by the Central Election Commission.

Also for the campaign, presidential candidates have the right to create election funds, which are formed from the personal funds of the candidate, funds of a public association which nominated him and voluntary donations of citizens and organizations. The maximum possible sum of the electoral fund of a candidate for the presidency is about 577 million tenge.

The voting at the presidential election in Kazakhstan will be held from 7:00 to 20:00 local time on April 26.

The Central Election Commission has to establish the results of the presidential election and make appropriate decision not later than May, 3.

Kazakh president is elected by the citizens of age of the republic on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot for a term of five years, according to the Constitution of Kazakhstan. The candidate must be a Kazakh citizen by birth not younger than 40 years old, fluent in the state language and who has lived in Kazakhstan for the recent 15 years may be elected president of Kazakhstan.
