The managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) said Iran hasn't bought super blend petrol from China, denying reports that 350,000 ton shipments of petrol were offloaded at the Bandar Abbas oil docks.

Responding to reports by some Western media outlets Jalil Salary, the NIOPDC head, said no petrol shipments have entered Iran in 2012.

Iran is an exporter of petroleum products and doesn't need petrol imports, said Mr. Salary. Projects to increase production capacity at Tehran, Abadan and Imam Khomeini Shazand refineries have added 5.5 per cent to the country's petrol production compared to last year. The expanded production has been accompanied by a three per cent drop in petrol use.
