Tehran, Iran, November 25

In current situation, cultural and social issues should be considered seriously since outwardly a security issue, terrorism have roots in culture and society, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn at a meeting in Tehran.

It has been proven today that terrorism does not bring anything good and it cannot be contained in one region because it is spreading around like an infectious disease, Rouhani said, the Iranian presidential website reported November 25.

The president asserted that certain countries are mistaken to think that they can use terrorist groups to achieve their political goals.

When terrorism thrives, the return of terrorist forces to their countries on one hand and the flow of refugees on the other become the source of many problems for their countries and their neighboring countries, he noted.

Rouhani pointed to Iran's forthcoming freedom from international sanctions and said in the post-sanctions era, Iran and Luxembourg can be good economic partners.

"Iran enjoys unique capabilities in the fields of energy and transportation," the president said. "It is situated in a very special area. It can have very progressive economic relations with Luxembourg as an active member of the European Union and an outstanding hub for investment and finance."
