By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

The details of the agreement on the next stage of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO under the Individual Partnership Action Plan (İPAP) will be discussed in Brussels.

The negotiations will be held during the working visit of Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov to NATO headquarters in Brussels from Aug.7 to Aug.8, NATO Liaison Officer in South Caucasus William Lahue told reporters.

Azerbaijan has already worked out and submitted to NATO the draft law on the fourth stage of the IPAP (Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO) program which covers the period from 2014 to 2015, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry earlier told Trend.

Some 28 of the 42 tasks undertaken by Azerbaijan under the Planning and Review Process are related to the armed forces. Some 18 of these tasks are related to general troops, five to land-forces, one to the navy and four to the air force.

Peacekeeping companies including a platoon for search and rescue operations, medical platoon, engineer-sapper platoon and a helicopter group was detached for participating in peacekeeping operations under the Planning and Review Process document.

Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has successfully implemented the first three stages of IPAP, covering 2005-2007, 2008-2010 and 2011-2013. A military doctrine was adopted in 2010 and Strategy for Maritime Security was adopted in 2013 in accordance with the obligations under IPAP.
