Turkey's FM: Constructive atmosphere for Cyprus issue

Turkey's Foreign Minister noted Monday the constructive atmosphere between Turkey and Greece for the solution of the Cyprus issue, Anadolu Agency reported.

"The good intentions of both Turkish and Greek Cypriots helped us overcome a deadlock in negotiations," Ahmet Davutoglu told journalists after the European Union (EU)-Turkey Political Dialogue meeting in Brussels of which the Cyprus issue was a focus.

Davutoglu said that international actors such as the EU, the United Nations and guarantor states - the United States, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Greece - display strong will to contribute to a solution.

Noting that he would meet his Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos, Davutoglu said: "If the negotiations kick off tomorrow (Tuesday), both of the island's parties would pay cross visits to Ankara and Athens. This will open a new phase in negotiations."
