Azerbaijan, Baku, June 20 / Trend /

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi clarified the issue of Mohammed Sharif Malikzadeh's appointment as deputy foreign minister on financial issues.

"Malikzadeh was not appointed on my recommendation," Salehi was quoted by the Iranian Fars news agency as saying.

"The ministry is occupied by people committing sabotage," Salehi said.

Salehi made the statement during a conversation with an Ira n ian political leader.

"Subversive forces began to get their hands on the ministry by appointing Malikzadeh," he added. "I am not empowered to make decisions there."

Ayatollah Khamenei's supporters accuse some senior officials among President Ahmadinejad's entourage in Iran, including head of the Iranian Presidential Administration Isfandiyar Rahim Mashai, of subversive activities. They claimed that the perpetrators of these acts want to remove Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Khamenei from politics.

"As I am not competent to make decisions at the ministry, it would be better if the parliament declares me impeachment," Salehi said.

Several Iranian MPs have already signed a document to impeach Salehi.
