The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry believes that Georgia's policy towards the U.S. is right, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said after the meeting with the U.S. secretary of state in Brussels.

"We have discussed the situation with Russia, as we expressed concern over the fact that the initialing of the agreement with the EU can lead to Moscow's pressure on Tbilisi," she said.

Kerry endorsed the restrained policy with regard to Russia's actions in the breakaway regions, according to Panjikidze.

"We intend to continue our dignified and restrained policy and not to come under provocations," Georgian foreign minister said.

Kerry called the decision of Georgian authorities on rapprochement with the EU and the initialing of the association agreement as "courageous", the minister added. Kerry called on Georgia to establish closer relations with the EU which is a guarantor of its development.

The secretary of state promised to pay an official visit to Georgia soon.

Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland participated in the negotiations between John Kerry and Maia Panjikidze.

She will visit Georgia on Dec.6.
