Bayern Munich have dismissed coach Louis van Gaal with immediate effect, Germany's Kicker magazine and the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported on their online editions Sunday.
According to the reports, assistant coach Andries Jonker will be in charge of the team for the five remaining games of the league season, dpa reported.
Dutch coach Van Gaal was due to leave the club at the end of the season after it was agreed last month to terminate his contract a year early. Jupp Heynckes has been appointed coach from next season.
A 1-1 draw at Nuremberg Saturday has seen Bayern drop to fourth in the table, one place out of a Champions League qualification spot.
There was no immediate confirmation from Bayern. A club spokesman said "talks" were being held Sunday.
