Within the joint project with the World Bank "Registration of Real Estate", otrofoto maps covering 40,000 square kilometers of Azerbaijan's territory has already been developed and is ready for use, Arif Garashov, head of State Real Estate Registration Service of Azerbaijan, said on April 13. Azerbaijan's territory is 86,600 square kilometers.
Otrofoto maps were devised by the winner of tender - Turkish INDES company.
He said that in late April - early May, the company will begin work to include remaining territory of Azerbaijan in the card. Currently, the company has already completed cosmic photography of 80 percent of the country's territory.
Designed orthophoto maps and cosmic photography will not be available for the ordinary citizens, Garashova, adding that they are secret materials and will be used for the needs of government.
"Based on these maps and photography, political, tourism and other maps will be devised," - said Garashov.
The Azerbaijani government and WB signed an agreement on joint application of the unified real estate cadastre in July 2007. The project consists of 4 components: management and register of the state property, baseline cartography and land cadastre, training, the formulation of the policy and the management of the project.
