Creation of High Technology Park in Azerbaijan will facilitate deployment of mass production of light-emitting diode (LED) light sources, the Research Center for Advanced Technology told Trend on Wednesday.
As the center reported, LED production process has been developed, and its further development is dependent on the timing of the technology park's commissioning.
Firstly, the use of LED technology is envisaged in lighting of the capital streets. LED lighting systems will be used for both decorative and ambient lighting of architectural buildings, streets, parks and highways.
The project is commercial. Introduction of technology to international markets is planned after meeting the republic's needs.
Solid-state lighting is energy efficient and environmentally friendly method, which, unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, allows energy consumption save of up to 80 percent.
Also, production of infrared LEDs is planned for their further use in optical fiber communications.
