Azerbaijan, Baku, April 25 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The Republican Seismology Centre (RSC) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences is going to complete the installation of seven new seismic stations by September, RIC told Trend on Thursday.

Four seismographs will be installed in the Fizuli, Agdam, Beylagan and Yardimli regions, and three in the sea at the Umid, Bahar and Chirag hydrocarbon fields.

The seismographs will be installed by specialists of American firm Kinemetrics which is a seismic equipment supplier.

According to the centre, on April 28 the experts are arriving in Baku and the main purpose of their visit is the installation of bottom seismographs.

Installation of bottom seismographs is quite labour intensive. Their installation requires submersion, cleaning silt from the bottom and installing equipment and cable systems.

Currently, there are 31 seismic stations operating in the country. All the stations are connected to the satellite system.

The main station is located in Baku in the academic town area and regularly receives real time information via satellites from vibration sensors installed in seismically active spots of the country. After processing the data, the system provides information about the exact place of the earthquake, its strength and time.

RIC's corporate network is served by Delta Telecom.
