The World Bank (WB) has sent a mission to Azerbaijan to review the project on reforming the health system, WB Baku Office told Trend on Friday.

The World Bank (WB) has sent a mission to Azerbaijan to review the project on reforming the health system, WB Baku Office told Trend on Friday.

"The course of the project implementation will be discussed during the visit, which will last until June 7," he said.

The bank's mission is headed by project team leader Claudia Rokx.

This is the second reform project for health care, financed by the World Bank. The WB first loan allocated for these purposes hits $5 million.

The first project implementation was completed in September 2006.

The second project on reforming the health system in Azerbaijan consists of four major components, including strengthening the management potential of the Health Ministry, sectoral policy, planning policy and regulation, improving the quality and efficiency of health services in five pilot regions, which includes the modification of the primary level of services at the regional level and the construction of three regional hospitals, strengthening the relations between the primary and secondary levels of health, presented in these regions, the reform of health care financing, the gradual transition to the principles of compulsory health insurance, improving staff potential, including medical personnel certification program.
