Large Azerbaijani and foreign brands have to take care to protect their domain names from cybersquatters (persons registering domain names inorder to resell them) Director General of IntraNS (registrar of the national .az domain), head of the E-Security Centre under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Faig Farmanov told Trend.
According to him, this issue emerged after the launch of the online-registration of the .az domain.
Earlier, Farmanov said that certain restrictions remain, such as the registration of geographical names, names of famous personalities and so on.
The issue of protection of major international and local companies' domain names (such as, microsoft.az and others) from cybersquatters is directly the responsibility of companies themselves, and from now on they have to take care to protect their domain names.
