Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 16
By G. Veliyev - Trend
"Azerbaijan will produce chips for microelectronics", The Research Center on High Technologies of the Ministry of connection and information technologies of Azerbaijan told Trend on Wednesday.
At the present time, the Center conducts work on preparation for the expansion of industrial chip production. The equipment has partially arrived, and they are in the process of installing it. Negotiations on import of the next portion of equipment are under way. The importer of the equipment is City Port Constructions. The price of the contract with the company is 500 thousand manats.
The exact date for the beginning of production of chips has not been announced. But, this process is on the agenda of the Center till the end of the year. State support also plays a very crucial role in this issue, because the process of beginning chip production is very expensive.
The chips planned for production may be used in computers, telephone devices, micro- and nanotechnologies, laser sources of lighting, biological objects, in defense industry and bank cards.
The Center believes that in the future, local producers will not have to buy chips beyond the Republic, and, in reality, advanced technologies will facilitate creation of competitive products, which will contribute to the development of the economy of the country.
