The High-Tech Park of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies is exploring opportunities to attract major renters for the Technopark area. The Executive Director of High-Tech Park, Seymur Aghayev said in his interview to "The Business Year" magazine.

The project is one of the most promising directions for Technopark`s development in the next few years, according to Aghayev.

Preparation of an acceptable short list of conditions for tenants that are interested in coming to Azerbaijan is being considered. Furthermore, a flexible general plan is being established that will satisfy the needs of large tenants.

Technopark will be built in the Pirallahi settlement in Baku. Some 50 hectares of land area is allocated for construction of the park. At present, work is underway on the formation of park, the construction of necessary infrastructure, and the study of international experience and resolution of other issues.

"Our main goal is to create a regional technology park and become one of the best players in this field. An important component is the creation of competitive, innovative solutions and then their further commercialization. Our economy and Azerbaijan's position as a leader in the region will allow possible commercialization and innovation"- Agayev said.

An incubation business center has already started accepting projects. When a project reaches the desired stage of development, it enters the High-Tech Park.

Tax and customs privileges are provided for Technopark residents.

"The main purpose is primarily to ensure investment in projects. Along with the general development plan, we are creating an infrastructure package for potential investors. We intend to develop an attractive business package for our future investors during 2014," the executive director said.

No restrictions are envisaged for participants in the High-Tech Park, according to Aghayev. Promising ideas will get adequate support for further development, regardless of whether they come from the citizens of Azerbaijan or foreign countries.

High-tech park was established under the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on November 5, 2012. The park is an area with the necessary infrastructure, material and technical base and governance structures for research in the field of information and communication technology, telecommunications and space communications, energy efficiency, the development of new high-tech.

The scope of information and communication technologies based on advanced scientific and technological developments will be expanded, creation of modern facilities for research and development of new information technologies will be provided upon the beginning of the Park`s activity.
