BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 12. Gold and silver jewelry imports to Azerbaijan were valued at 71.4 million manat ($41.9 million), while exports – at 19.6 million manat ($11.5 million) in 2022, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Jewelers Association Toghrul Abbasguliyev told Trend.
According to him, the total jewelry market value in Azerbaijan for 2022 is estimated at 153 million manat ($89.88 million).
"These indicators are results of intensive efforts over the past two years. The tax and customs benefits introduced in 2021 are now yielding results. Favorable outcome was obtained in 2021, and improved even more in 2022," Abbasguliyev said.
The chairman also outlined the establishment of relations between manufacturers and AzerGold CJSC.
"Some jewelry manufacturers are already buying gold directly from AzerGold in the form of doré bars (a semi-pure alloy of gold and silver, usually created at the site of a mine then transported to a refinery for further purification). The finished jewelry is subsequently exported to the CIS countries and the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE)," he added.
