Baku Oil Factory LLC, a part of the Azersun Holding industrial conglomerate, may establish exports to Georgia and the countries of Central Asia, the Azersun Holding told Trend.

Presently, the company produces 10 types of edible oils.

“When designing the plant, it was considered that the products will be sent both to the domestic market and to export,” the company said. “Presently, the plant’s production capacities allow manufacturing products in a volume exceeding domestic demand twice. In particular, Georgia and countries of Central Asia are considered potential export markets.”

The company noted that the reforms of the government support the company in expanding production and exports.

“We look forward to the results of the reforms recently carried out by the Azerbaijani government, changes in customs and taxes spheres, as well as measures to protect local producers,” the company noted. “Such measures help us to strengthen our production and export potential.”

In January-February 2018, Azerbaijan produced 7,870 tons of butter and 17.44 tons of vegetable oil. Compared with the same period in 2017, the decline in the production of butter amounted to nine percent, vegetable oil - 12.2 percent.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported vegetable and animal oils worth $3.89 million. Compared with the same period in 2017, exports in monetary terms decreased by 30.67 percent.
