Azerbaijan exports cotton yarn to Portugal, Rashad Rahimov, assistant director and public relations manager of Mingachevir Textile LLC, told Trend.
According to him, the company produces cotton yarn entirely from local raw materials and acts as a supplier of the textile industry in such countries of the region as Russia and Turkey.
“Our yarn is also exported to such recognized textile centers as Belgium, Poland and Portugal. In the first 5 months of the current year, Mingachevir Textile exported products worth more than $10 million. Considering that the company has been operating for not so long, this is quite a high achievement," he said.
Rahimov stressed that the company plays an important role in the employment of the residents of the city of Mingachevir.
"Today, about 670 people work in Mingachevir Textile. With their work, they contribute to the growth of demand for cotton. As such, the company plays an important role in the development of cotton growing," he concluded.
