Azerbaijani religious leaders have sent an appeal to world powers, parliaments, religious leaders and public and religious organisations of foreign countries.

The appeal was signed by the Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Bishop of the Diocese of Baku and Azerbaijan of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexander Ishenin, head of the community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan Semen Ihiilov and for the Roman Catholic Church in AzerbaijanVladimir Fekete, says that the Khojaly genocide to date has not been convicted at the international level and its organisers not punished.

'If humanity does not speak today in support of justice, tomorrow it itself will become a victim of injustice and treachery. So, appealing to the heads of world powers, parliaments, religious leaders, public and religious organisations, we call upon you to give a principled legal assessment of the aggression and atrocities of the Armenian extremists against Azerbaijan people and to recognise Khojaly tragedy as an act of genocide', the statement says.

The appeal stresses that the spread throughout the world of the reality about our country and about the Khojaly genocide will show the true face of Armenian aggressors, not shunning the use of information and plagiarism for false propaganda.
