The number of suicides increased in 2009 in western Azerbaijan in Ganja, Chief of the Ganja Branch of the Association on Judicial Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy Javanshir Aliyev said.
He added that 18 people committed suicide in Ganja in 2009. The number of suicides increased by five people in 2009 compared to 2008. Fifteen were men and three were women.
In 12 cases, suicide was committed by hanging, one self-immolation, three drinking acetic acid and two shooting.
In 2008, 13 people committed suicide. Seven were men and six were women.
