A Kyrgyz citizen with a large amount of heroin was detained at the Kordai customs post in the Zhambyl Oblast today.
"The officers found 888 grams of heroin under his clothing," Kazakh Interior Ministry regional spokesman Rosa Kaldybekova told Trend.
The operation was prepared over two weeks. The smuggler was told to transport drugs through the post in the direction of Shu near the Shuya Valley.
"Experts estimate that the cost of the drugs (about 20,000 single doses) is $8,000-$10,000 on the black market in the southern regions," Kaldybekova said.
A criminal case was launched.
The Kazakh Criminal Code envisages imprisonment for 15 years or more for smuggling drugs.
