Special security officer of the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry, Lieutenant Colonel Elshad Guliyev was killed during a special operation on rendering an armed group harmless in Ganja, a source in law enforcement agencies told Trend.
Three wounded ministry employees were taken to the State Border Service, and their health state is assessed as serious, the source said.
An armed incident took place between armed group and law enforcement agencies in the territory of the Makhrasa garden in the Nizami district of Ganja this morning.
The incident took place while rendering the armed group harmless, Ganja City Main Police Department told Trend.
Azerbaijani National Security Ministry has confirmed the fact of conducting a special operation in Ganja. As the National Security Ministry's Public Relations Center head Arif Babayev said additional measures on the incident are currently underway.
The skirmish in Ganja killed a law enforcement employee while injuring three others. From the illegal armed group, one was killed and two were wounded, the law enforcement agencies told Trend on Friday.
