Terrorist attack prevented in Turkey
Azerbaijan, Baku, March 11 / Trend A. Taghiyeva /
The country's security forces prevented a terrorist attack in the Turkish province of Hakkari, Yeni Safak newspaper said today.
Around 50 kilogrammes of explosives and 48 detonators were discovered in the Shemdinli area of Hakkari province during the Turkish police special operations.
It is assumed that the explosives belong to the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands an independent Kurdish state, has lasted for over 25 years and claimed over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
