No Azerbaijanis Among Victims of Train Crash in St. Petersburg

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / The North-West regional Centre at the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry reported that no Azerbaijanis were among the victims of the train crash that occurred in St.Petersburg on 13 August.

The train, Nevski Express, via Moscow to St.Petersburg derailed in Novgorod province as a result of a homemade explosive. Tens of people were injured. Some 800m of railway were destroyed.

"Homemade explosives were used in the attack that occurred in Okulovka situated in Malaya Vishera in Novgorod province," Natalia Akafiyeva, the Chief of the Department of the Russian Railway Station's Press-Service.

Sergey Bednichenko, the Chief of the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office in the North-West province, stated that criminal charges have been filed in accordance with Article 205 of Section 3 (terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
