Azerbaijan Holds Exam for Notary Positions

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / An exam for notary positions took place in Azerbaijan on 24 November.

The exam involving 335 candidates was organized by the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry and the State Commission on Students Admission. Some 40% of the examinees came from Azerbaijani regions. Employees in justice bodies, courts, prosecutor's offices, municipalities, as well as attorneys, were among the examinees. Up to 15% of the candidates intend to become special notaries.

The examinees had to answer 100 questions within 3 hours. Those with 55 and more points will be included in the competition. Results of the exam will be announced several hours after completion of the exam.

The candidates included into the competition will visit trainings to master theoretical and practical knowledge. Then they will take a contest on professional appropriateness. Those who pass the competition will be appointed notaries, the head of the Central Department for Registration and Notary System at the Justice Ministry Ilgar Mammadov said to journalists.

There are 149 notaries in Azerbaijan. As a result of upcoming reforms, the number of notaries will increase to 158. Several of them will work in private notary offices.
