Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The court trial involving an appeal by the Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP) against the Baku Executive Power, scheduled for 12 December was not held, ANIP's press-secretary Ali Oruj said in an interview to Trend agency.
ANIP brought an appeal in the Sabail District Court against the Baku Executive Power due to the reason that the body did not sanction the rally the party was planned to stage. The party asked the court to provide freedom of assembly to members of the party and undertake measures against illegal actions done by the Baku Executive Power. Sabayil District Court did not satisfy their appeal on 22 October.
An appeal was brought against the court's decision. Appeal was meant to be re-considered by the Appeal Court under the chairmanship of the Judge Mirza Tagizadeh on 12 December at 2:00p.m. However, court reported that the trial was postponed for undefined time. Protesting the delay ANIP's representatives left the building. Orujev said that the representatives would not take part at the trial which may be held after several hours.
ANIP was founded by Etibar Mammadov in 1992. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Union.
