Iraq Intends to Co-operate with Azerbaijan in Energy Sector: Ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 January /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The situation in Iraq has gradually come to normal, and now the country's government intends to mobilize its efforts to develop the relations with the foreign countries, including Azerbaijan. Such a statement was made by the President of Iraq, Jalal Talibani, at a meeting with the newly appointed Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iraq, Elman Arasli.

The Head of Iraq is willing to develop the co-operation with Azerbaijan in the oil and non-oil sectors, Arasli reported to Trend by telephone from Baghdad on 23 January, when he presented his credential to the Iraqi President.

Talibani highlighted the wish of his country to expand the commercial and economic relations with Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said. "Both from the geographic and cultural and political point of view, Iraq is very close to Azerbaijan," the Ambassador said.
