Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 February / Trend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The Azerbaijani State Border Service intercepted the smuggling of over 31kg of drugs from Azerbaijan to Russia.
As a result of the negotiations carried out on 31 January jointly with the State Customs Committee, Mehraba Valiyeva, 30, travelling from Baku to St. Petersburg, was detained. An amount 31.6 kg of hemp placed amongst fruit in two boxes was discovered in her luggage, the head of the State Border Service's Investigation Department Azer Ibrahimov said to journalists on 5 February.
A criminal case was filed for the contravention of Articles 234.2 and 234.4.3 (illegal purchase, storage production, processing, transportation or sale of drugs) and Articles 29 and 206.2 (attempted drug smuggling).
Valiyeva was arrested and involved into the investigation as a suspect.
