Women Attempting to Smuggle Drugs to Prisoner Arrested in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 February / corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ The employees of the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan have arrested two women attempting to smuggle heroin into prison.

The press service of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan said to Trend that officials in Prison #1 discovered more than 20 grams of heroin in a bottle of pickled eggplants during inspection of the parcel brought in by relatives of prisoner Rushan Gambarov.

The prisoner's relatives, his wife Khanim Gambarova and daughter Matanat Gambarova hid the drugs inside the eggplants. They were arrested and sent to the Police Office of Nizami district of Baku.

Rushan Gambarov is serving his 10-year jail sentence on charges of illegal possession of drugs for sale purposes.
