Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 June / corr Trend I.Alizade / A ban has been put on the sale of lands owned by the municipalities in Azerbaijan. "Some changes have been introduced into the law to sell the municipality lands through the auction and a relevant decree will be issued soon. Therefore, a temporary ban has been put on sale of municipality lands," Arif Rahimzade, the chairman of the Permanent Commission on Regional Issues, said.
Azerbaijan has 2,768 municipalities. Following the land reforms, a part of lands has been distributed among population, whilst a part was left under state ownership as fund lands, and a part was given to self-government bodies in 1999.
The chairman of the commission said that a set of rules on sale of municipality lands though auction has been developed.
