"Relations with GUAM Very Important for USA, EU" – US Assistant Deputy State Secretary

Kitskhalia/ "The relations being formed within GUAM are very important for the United States and European Union," United States' Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs David Merkel, who participates in GUAM Commission's work, said to Trend on 30 June. He stressed that in this respect, GUAM summit in Batumi gains special importance.
" GUAM is a heavy regional player, which unites the countries in the Caspian region. The relations within GUAM are quite important," Merkel said.
According to Merkel, the summit is of a special importance for Georgia, since the country is undertaking chairmanship of the organization.
