Azerbaijani Central Election Commission’s Head Calls on TV Channels to Air from Voting Stations Equipped with Web Cameras

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 October / Trend corr. J.Babayeva/ Head of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov called on TV channels to air from voting stations equipped with web cameras.

"Outline results will be divulged at 22:00," Panahov said at a news conference in the CEC Elections news centre on 15 October.

Seven candidates take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

According to Panahov, counting of votes at all voting stations may be completed by evening. However, in conformity with the Election Code the returns will be publicized in 48 hours after the day of voting.

CEC urges journalists to apply to adequate bodies in case of violation of the law.
