EU Intends to Co-operate with Arab Countries on Iranian Nuclear Program

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 October /corr. Trend U.Sadikova / The European Union will be continuing co-operation with the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf with regards to Iran's nuclear program.

During his visit to Middle East region, Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, will discuss questions of co-operation with the countries of the Persian Gulf, in particular with Saudi Arabia, and also other problems of the region, Christina Gallach, Press- Secretary of Javier Solana, told Trend New by telephone from Brussels on 22 October.

Gallach said that the basic reason of Solana's visit to the countries of the Persian Gulf is to establish relations between the European Union and these countries.

"The EU has close relations with them, and we would like to strengthen them through signing several agreements on co-operation with the countries of the Persian Gulf. We want to discuss with our partners a number of questions, such as bilateral relations, and also regional questions, in particular the questions concerning the Middle East settlement, Iranian nuclear program, and also important international questions such as global world financial crisis," Gallach said.

Gallach stated that earlier the European Union also wanted to co-operate with the Arab countries on these questions.
She also added that the EU has good political relations with these countries, and it seems that the opportunity began to strengthen them.

"We all are interested in the Iranian nuclear program, many international ideas are interconnected with it, and we will discuss its further development with the countries of the European Union," Gallach said.
