Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 October / Trend corr. N.Abdullayeva/ Political interaction and the settling of lingered conflicts will be discussed at GUAM in near future.
The meeting of the GUAM national coordinators will take place in mid November, GUAM Secretary General Valeriy Chechelashvili said to Trend in a telephone conversation from Kiev on 28 October.
"The venue of the meeting is being negotiated. It will be held either in Tbilisi or in Kiev," he said.
Four post-Soviet republics; Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, established the GUAM format in 1997 during a summit of presidents of European Union countries in Strasburg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization but left four years later. In 2006, at the first summit of the organization in Kiev a decision was made to announce GUAM as an international organization with a new name; Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM.
A range of relevant issues will be discussed at the meeting, including political interaction particularly in the field of settling of lingered conflicts, as well as sectoral cooperation. Energy, food security, transport, finance, IT development will be considered.
