Azerbaijan, Czech Republic study possibility of energy cooperation: ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 11/ Trend , N. Abdullayev/ The Azerbaijani and Czech governments study possibilities of energy cooperation. Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and minister of Industry and Trade of Czech Republic Martin Riman held talks on this issue in Prague on Dec. 11, Tahir Tagizade, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Czech Republic, told Trend .

The Czech Republic, who totally depends on Russian gas, supports diversification of energy supply routes to Europe.

The talks focused on creation of Azerbaijan-Czech Republic intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, prospects of signing agreement on mutual protection of investments and new opportunities of trade cooperation to begin with opening of embassy in Azerbaijan, Tagizade said. The embassy is expected to be opened in early 2009. 

During his official visit to Prague, Azerbaijani Foreign met with his Czech counterpart CarelSchwarzenberg, chairman of Senate PremyslSobotka and head of House of MPs Misoslav Vilchek. Security in the South Caucasus, Czech Republic's chairmanship in the European Union and enhancing bilateral relations were also discussed during the talks. 

Azeri Foreign Minister's visit to the Czech Republic has ended.
