Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 23 / Trend , A.Huseynbala/ Reorganization process has begun a pro-government party after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
"Our party is at a new stage of its activity and has begun reorganization process," Mammad Alizade, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic World Party (ADWP) told Trend on Dec. 23.
The pro-government Azerbaijan Democratic World Party has been founded in 1992 and registered by the Ministry of Justice in 1993. The chief of the party is Mammad Alizade. The party supports political line of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
Opposition Great Nation Party (GNP), founded in 1999, amalgamated with Azerbaijan Democratic World Party on Sept. 23, 2008. But former chief of GNP Samir Adigozalli announced his resignation on Nov. 12 as a protest against policy of ADWP chief.
The ADWP is a member of the Advisory Assembly, formed by pro-government parties in 1998. The organization includes the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Azerbaijan Democratic World Party, the Democratic Enlightenment Party, the Free Republicans Party, the Republican Party, the Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party, the Social Welfare Party, the National Statehood Party and the Alliance Party for Azerbaijan. At present the New Azerbaijan Party is holding chairmanship of the Advisory Assembly in accordance with its regulation.
The party is preparing to municipal elections to be held in 2009, Alizade said. "Election staff has been established to get prepared to the municipal elections. We will hold serious and healthy competition in these elections," Alizade said.
The chairman of the ADWP said that they do not intend to cooperate with any political structure in the municipal elections. "At present we have local organizations in remote villages of Azerbaijan. Therefore, we nominate a candidate at every municipal elections," the chairman of the pro-government party said.
So far, a lot of people have joined the party, Alizade said, speaking about reorganization of the party. "We reorganize all documentation for activity of the party as a serious political force. Henceforth, all local organizations get concrete instructions for political activity," Alizade said.
Mass admission to the party will last, he said. "The headquarters of the party receives more than 1,000 people's applications a day," the PDWA leader said.
