Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 4/ Trend N. Kirtzkhalia/ NATO countries firmly protest Russia's actions to place its military bases in Georgian territory, Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze told media in Brussels after the meeting of NATO Council.

During meeting the representatives of the Alliance asked many questions regarding Moscow's intentions in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Because of this issue the meeting continued more than one and a half hour scheduled.

"They were interested in concrete actions of occupants on construction of military bases in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. We familiarized them with these plans and concrete actions of Russian militants in this direction," Baramidze said.

After getting information, NATO representatives protested Moscow's intentions, he said. "They stressed Moscow's strengthening its presence instead of its reducing in the conflict zones is impossible," vice-premier said.

It should be noted that NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer intends to raise the issue during the meeting with Russian Vice-Premier Sergey Ivanov in Munich.
