The EU considered the conflict in the Middle East for a long time, and the current developments in the region demonstrates that it is time to remove the conflict, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign Policy Javier Solana said.
"We should not deal with the crisis management in the Middle East. We were dealing the challenge too long so that to save peoples," Solana said in the interview for Vesti channel.
To end the conflict in Palestine it is necessary to reconcile with Arab countries so that to put an end to the occupation that was begun in 1967, Solana said.
"The Middle East is the region where the EU cooperation may yield its fruits," Solana added.
The Middle East quartet was one of the main mediators in settlement of the recent armed conflict in Gaza between members of Hamas and Israel.
Over 1,300 Palestinians have been died and 5,500 people were wounded as a result of the 22 day military Cast Lead operation.
On Jan. 18, Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire in Gaza. However, Israel still failed to ink agreement on entire ceasefire with Hamas.
