Kazakhstan expects the head of higher representative body of the People's Republic of China (PRC) with an official visit, chairman of the Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said during meeting in Astana the Ambassador of China in Kazakhstan Chen Gopin, the Senate said.
"Tokayev conveyed the best wishes of the chairman of the National People's Congress U Bango, and noted that Kazakhstan is looking forward to senior representative body of the Peoples Republic of China with an official visit," the press release said.
Chinese diplomat supported the speaker's opinion on necessity to activate inter-parliamentary ties, and fill the parliamentary cooperation with practical content.
During the meeting Tokayev noted the historic nature of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's recent state visit to China and also stressed the importance of implementing the agreements reached to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
According to Tokayev, an important component of interstate relations is inter-parliamentary ties.
"We attach great importance to the development of cooperation between the supreme representative body of Kazakhstan and China. We have all possibilities for a successful interaction, and therefore it is important to develop a mechanism for regular consultations and exchange of experience in legislative work," the speaker said.
The two sides also exchanged views on implementation of the SCO Parliamentary Initiative.
