Geneva hosting World Health Assembly

The annual World Health Assembly started in the UN Palace of Nations in Geneva on May 18, the press service of Kyrgyz Embassy to UN and other international organizations in Geneva reported.

The Kyrgyz delegation is headed by Health Minister Marat Mambetov.

Health Ministers will review the issues on how global climate changes may affect human health and the common health system.

Ministers are designing a plan of actions to reduce the influence of global financial crisis to public health, as well as mechanism to prevent possible outbreak of H1N1 virus.

An agreement on cooperation of two years working plan will be signed by the WHO Secretariat and Kyrgyz Health Ministry.

The agreement envisages a plan of technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and WHO on key public health issues, including combat against tuberculosis, AIDS, emergency aid to disasters, protection of maternity and etc.
