Azerbaijani Deputy Zahid Oruj believes that the unification of municipalities will make the organization more influential.
"Association of municipalities helps transform them into powerful organization that makes it possible to build their own budget and success in activity," Oruj told Trend .
There are 2,750 municipalities in Azerbaijan. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) is in favour of reduction of the number of municipalities.
Small municipalities were unified within the largest one.
"However, those municipalities failed to operate due to lack of institute," he added.
